It's been a while since the latest update, but at least it hasn't been an entire year. Since the last time, Edrex and I created a new piece titled Torrent. (I haven't yet had the chance to add the documentation to this website.) Torrent is related to cascade and s[tr]eam, and we are really looking forward to fleshing out some of our new ideas. Torrent was in the Pixilerations v.4 show in Providence, RI in October of 2007.

The biggest news, however, is that s[tr]eam was accepted to SIGGRAPH 2008 at the Los Angeles Convention Center. It is not a stretch to say that this is the biggest thing that has happened for us since the Tampa Museum of Art group show. Here is the draft of our page in the art catalog. Look for more big things to come!

I almost forgot that Edrex and I (but mostly Edrex) wrote an outstanding paper about our concepts and motivations in art-making. The paper was accepted to the 11th Biennial Symposium for Arts and Technology at Connecticut College. The paper is called Mutable Sculpture.

It's been a while since I've updated the news page, but that doesn't mean that things haven't been happening. We proposed a new video sculpture entitled torrent that is a member of the Cascade series for Pixilerations [v.4] and got in. In a juried show at the Oliva Cigar Factory Gallery in Ybor City, Tampa, Edrex and I showed smaller prints of Cascade 01.02;27;14 and Cascade 01.02;59;09. At the same exhibit, I also showed the lightning photograph. The lightning photograph also got into this year's Fifth Avenue Art Gallery 100% Pure Florida show.

Some even older news is that Cascade 01.02;27;14 got into the 2007 National Juried Art Show at the Baker Arts Center. The Cascade prints that showed at the Oliva Cigar Factory Gallery also showed in an exhibition at the Space at Alice Gallery in Providence, Rhode Island.

Last night Cascade opened at Pixilerations [v.3]. I posted some pictures of the actual piece here. I also just made a gallery of Overlooked at the Tampa Museum of Art.

Edrex and I were accepted for the pixilerations show. We will be showing cascade. Yay!

Edrex and I were not selected to exhibit as a part of the Real Art Ways: Open show. There were 270 applications for 6 solo shows.

Man. I really wanted to get the Real Art Ways opportunity. Moving forward.. Edrex and I are submitting Cascade to Pixilerations v.3, a part of the First Works Prov art festival. And we are looking into a bunch of other opportunities in Florida and Rhode Island.

Check out this article in the St. Pete Times.. It's the very first time Edrex and I have been mentioned in a newspaper for Overlooked! (cached article) And it's my first time ever being mentioned for my art! Joanna is also mentioned in the article. But she's probably used to it since she's an amazing artist.

Edrex and I just found out yesterday that we have been accepted for another exhibition! We will be showing Overlooked at this year's International Computer Music Conference being held at Tulane University in November.

Edrex and I submitted an exhibition proposal for the Real Art Ways: Open show. I can't say enough about how grateful we are to Joanna White for bringing this opportunity to our attention. I hope they like our proposal!

I have a couple questions about the website...
 - Should I put images on the main page?
 - Is an easter egg an easter egg if you know it exists?
 - Where (and how) should I display my name?

I just registered the domain for palecast.ofthought. I finally made the leap to establish my own website for several reasons. Mainly, I have had lots of encouraging conversations with Edrex and Joanna. And if I am to seriously pursue art making then building a website will help me organize and present my work.

Tonight is the opening for underCURRENT/overVIEW 8 at the Tampa Museum of Art. The exhibit is a juried show of contemporary art in Florida. Overlooked, a collaboration with Edrex Fontanilla, is one of 42 works of art in the show.
